Removing conformal coatings, such as Humiseal UV40, from pallets is a highly specialized process that requires exceptional precision at every stage of printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing. The solution to this challenge lies in Decotron EFD1, a chemical cleaning agent that has proven highly effective in removing acrylic and urethane conformal coatings.
Decotron EFD1 is a water-based cleaning agent specifically designed to remove acrylic and urethane conformal coatings from pallets and devices used in PCB manufacturing. What sets it apart from other cleaning agents is its ability to tackle even the most resistant coatings, such as Humiseal UV40.
SEEING IS BELIEVING

To evaluate the effectiveness of Decotron EFD1 in removing Humiseal UV40, a test was conducted using an InJet 888 CRD high-pressure spray cleaning machine. This machine provides a fully automated cleaning process without the need for additional intervention.
Humiseal UV40 is known for its high chemical resistance, making its removal a significant challenge. However, Decotron EFD1 demonstrated exceptional removal power and outstanding cleaning results, achievable through bubbling technology or high-pressure cleaning. Additionally, its pH-neutral nature ensures excellent compatibility with soft metals such as aluminum, eliminating the need for corrosion inhibitors.
The test revealed that while Humiseal UV40 is an exceptionally durable coating, Decotron EFD1 is highly effective in removing it. In this particular case, a pallet with extremely thick and aged coating residues was completely cleaned after 6 hours of cleaning at 50°C.
It is important to note that cleaning time may vary depending on the coating’s thickness and curing level. During production, frequent cleaning can significantly reduce these times, resulting in greater efficiency in the PCB manufacturing process.

Removing conformal coatings, especially those known for their high resistance, such as Humiseal UV40, has now become a streamlined process thanks to the combination of the InJet 888 CRD high-pressure spray cleaning machine and Decotron EFD1. The test conducted demonstrated a 100% cleaning success rate. However, optimizing the cleaning process under production conditions is recommended to achieve maximum efficiency.
Beyond its exceptional performance, Decotron EFD1 also addresses key concerns related to operator safety, environmental impact, and GHS classification and labeling. This solution represents a significant advancement in conformal coating removal, enhancing efficiency in PCB manufacturing, a sector where precision and process optimization are crucial for success.
